Session 3 - Human Trafficking Curriculum

Barbara taking notes for Self-Confidence Session

Monday, March 25th: SI Members Barbara & Lynne assisted Judy Knapp with this week's topic "Self Confidence".

Session 3 - You are unique, valuable, and worth loving

Just as each person has a one-of-a-kind fingerprint, each student is one-of-a-kind, valuable, and worth loving.

This lesson focused on self – esteem.  If children feel good about themselves, they are less likely to fall into the trap of traffickers.

  1. Traffickers consider the people they enslave and sell to be valuable if they bring in money for them.
  2. Do mistakes and bad choices keep you from being valuable?

Activity involved them filling out petals in shape of flower – what is your gift? What is your personal quality you are most proud of? What is your greatest achievement?

Then students wrote on of their petals anonymously on a piece of paper, we mixed up, passed back out and students had to guess who wrote that. Students learned more about each other and some surprises as well.
